Read on if you are interested in understanding the reason for our tradition.
In 1971, the Catalan songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat spent a few months in Calella de Palafrugell. His experiences in our land inspired him to compose his song ‘Mediterráneo’, which recently won the Catalan television competition about the most important song in the history of Catalonia. The lyrics said: “… and you come and go after kissing my village; you leave, thinking of coming back … “, lyrics that have their roots in the land and sea of this old fishing village.
Four years before the arrival of Serrat in Calella, in 1967, Santiago Simón decided to preserve the forested area of Calella de Palafrugell and offer visitors and travelers a unique place to enjoy the privacy of this charming place and thus be able to rest and find oneself, with fellow travelers, with nature or with the people of the village.
True to his great learnings inherited from his parents, those of respecting the land, Santiago Simón began to write the story of Camping Moby Dick: a small family business in a small fishing village, both full of history and charm.
Located on a small hill overlooking the unrivaled blue of the Mediterranean sea, Camping Moby Dick is populated by cork oaks, holm oaks and ancient pines that welcome under their shade all travelers looking for a corner in the world to approach and kiss their village … leaving them to think of coming back, as Serrat will always sing to us.
In the shade of Camping Moby Dick, you can unwind from the day to day and enjoy the calm of its sea and its land. You choose relaxation or you choose action. You go out in the sun or you dive into the salty sea water. You can hear the notes of the wind from a wooden cabin or the Havaneres songs that accompany the fishermen at the Playa of Port Bo. You climb its hills and mountains or go down its narrow stone streets.
You say “hola”, “bonjour”, “hi” or “hallo”. You do not know anyone, but you know everyone.
In the shade of Camping Moby Dick, you will find what you are looking for in your trip: a small hidden gem of calm in the village of Calella de Palafrugell.
We welcome you to find us.
